About great things

”Great things are not accomplished by those who yield to trends and fads and popular opinion.” It means that if somebody wants to make a special thing or unique idea, the person should think unique idea instead of general opinion. In a fashion style, there is a good example in Korea. In 1960, a famous woman singer, Bokhee Yun, wore mini skirt in a fashion show for the first time. Journalists criticized her style severely, but the style became popular rapidly. Police officers measured length with a bamboo ruler. If the length, from knee to skirt, is over fifteen centimeters, police officer arrested the woman at once. Wearing a miniskirt was a fad, but now most teenagers like to wear a miniskirt even school uniform. The singer did not yield to general opinion so she made a new trend. If you want to try your unique idea, do not to be aware of other’s opinion. Maybe Your idea will be a new great one.

  1. Very interesting! Did the police officer really took a banboo rule with them all the time? Your opinion about this sentence is a little different of mine. But I like your passion about fashion. Fashion is always a weak aspect of me.

  2. Yup! you are totally right. If you want to try your unique idea,so why would they pay attention to other's opinion? It's a very interesting paragraph, because I am curious about How did the Korean police officers measure the length of the miniskirt on a woman.
